Kids Race: All bike participants must wear a safety approved helmet at all times when on or handling their bike. A free bike check by Kootenay Mountain Sports is recommended prior to the race. 1 Adult (14+) Chaperone per child is MANDATORY for all children 6 & U and RECOMMENDED for all children 7-8yrs. Stay right to allow passing on the left. Please notify other racers when approaching to pass.
Trail Run: No outside support, must be self supported other than what is provided at the aid stations. (EXCEPTION: Loonie Toonie designated support crew). No littering or shortcutting. Any athlete found littering or shortcutting will be immediately disqualified. No headphones or iPod’s. It is recommended that a water bottle or hydration pack be carried at all times during the race. Please be familiar with the course & bring the map. Please use trail etiquette notify a runner in front that you would like to pass, and slower runners stay right to allow faster runners to pass when requested. The faster runner has the right of way.
Mt Bike: Must have a safety approved helmet on and buckled at all times when on or handling bike. A free bike check by Kootenay Mountain Sports is recommended, but not required prior to the race. Self supported, no outside support other than what is provided at designated aid stations. Please be familiar with the course & bring the map. No leaving gear on the course before or after the race! Any athlete found shortcutting, stashing gear or littering will be immediately disqualified. Please use trail etiquette and move off to the side to allow faster rider to pass at first available area. When approaching a rider that you have caught, please notify the rider that you would like to pass and pass when safe. The faster rider (in back) has the right of way.
