The Sufferfest Cyclocross will be a TRADITIONAL or CLASSIC STYLE Cyclocross using a 2.5-3 KM course, and completing multiple loops of the course within a time limit.

MAP:

A 2.5km – 3km GREAT fun race course will be set up around Nakusp Gazebo Park.  The course will be expertly designed using berms, fields, corners, obstacles, winding back and forth etc. with stakes and flagging to mark the course.

Nakusp is located on the shores of the Arrow Lakes with a beautiful sandy beach and all the characteristics to choreograph an outstanding Cyclocross event! A Mountain Bike or Cross bike can be used in the open and junior categories, a CX bike is necessary for the Elite category.

This event is intended for both experienced and non-experienced riders, and can be taken seriously…or not!  Fun, challenging and exciting for spectators!

Walk up registration is available.


The Off- Road Duathlon Solo & Relay
Nakusp, BC

RACE START:  9:00 am Gazebo Park in dowtown Nakusp, BC.

Pre-race meeting: 8:45 AM at Start Line.

2km RUN / 6km BIKE / 2km RUN

Shorter distance run and 3 loops of a classic cyclocross route!

MAP:

A Duathlon is a Run – Bike – Run event, where the clock continues to tick as racers switch from running, to biking, then back to running again, clock stops when they have completed all 3 legs.  The course is expertly designed and will be both fun and challenging, great for all skill levels!  The race starts with a 2km mix of Trail Run using the beautiful lakeview trail along circumference of Nakusp, it is then followed immediately after a transition onto 2 wheels to the Nakusp Cyclocross bike loop which is a classic cyclocross style course with berms, obstacles, fun and challenging!  Participants will complete 3 loops of the 2k cyclocross course.  After completing the bike, racers will dismount their bikes, and back on foot for a repeat of the 2km run.

Nakusp is a hidden gem of the Kootenays, located along the shores of Arrow Lakes and accessed by a free ferry ride!

RELAY TEAMS of up to 3!  Not ready to do all 3 legs?  Find a one or two friends to share the experience with and each do one leg!  This race is also kid friendly for ages 10 & up (6 and up for experienced and super uber fit kids!)

The JUNIOR Duathlon
2 KM Run – 6 KM Bike – 2KM Run
Nakusp, BC

 RACE START:  9:00 am Gazebo Park in dowtown Nakusp, BC (We will stagger the start so that the Junior Racers have their own separate start).

Pre-race meeting: 8:45 AM at Start Line.

A Duathlon is a Run – Bike – Run event, where the clock continues to tick as racers switch from running, to biking, then back to running again, clock stops when they have completed all 3 legs.  This race is designed with FUN in mind, and to be great for all skill levels!  The race starts with a 2km Run using the beautiful unpaved beach trail and then back through the park/field to the start/finish area.  It is then followed immediately after a transition onto 2 wheels to complete 3 loops of the 2km modified cyclocross loop.  The cyclocross loop will have it’s FUN challenges where riders will need to dismount, but all within the Gazebo Park and surrounding area very well marked.  After completing the bike, racers will dismount their bikes, and back on foot for a repeat of the 2km run.

Corporate Challenge

Be a part of the Annual Sufferfest Corporate Challenge.

MAP:

This event will take place on Sunday, September 16, 2018, race starts at 9:00 am, please arrive by 8:30 am to register/check-in.

It is a 3 part race with a 2 KM run/walk, then a 6 KM Cyclocross Bike ride (3 loops of a 2 KM course), followed by a 2 KM walk/run.

Teams must consist of 3 people from the same organization.

Race starts at 9:00 am at the Nakusp Gazebo Park in Downtown Nakusp, mass start with the Adult and Junior Duathlon.ShonsWeb

The Grand Prize draw is for a NEW MARIN MOUNTAIN BIKE from Shons Ski and Bike!! Every team has a chance to win, and first place winners get 3 more chances to win, second place get 2 more chances, and third place gets 1 additional chance in the draw!

BC Goes Wild will be at The Nakusp Suffercross CX Bike Race and Duathlon/ Corporate Challenge September 17.

Bree will be providing education on how to enjoy wildlife in the wild and keeping communities safe. She will also provide bear spray demos using inert spray.
