The Half Marathon:
The Half Marathon is a challenging single-loop course through the surrounding country and hillsides of beautiful Nakusp. The course uses a combination of paved/dirt roads and trail. Most of the run is on roads. It will have a significant elevation gain and loss, as this is typical of running in the Kootenays -it is rarely is flat! The route will start and finish at the Gazebo Park. It includes a loop up into the Wells Road area, then over to Alexander Road ( where it crosses the highway), and uses a short stretch of the old rail bed trail to connect with Brouse Loop. There is a significant climb up Billings Road, continuing around the Crescent Bay area and returning to Nakusp along the highway and beautiful Waterfront walk.
